European Union (EU)
In keeping with the close relationship that it seeks to promote with the current colonies of its member states, the EU publishes documents addressing various priority areas in which it is prepared to engage with and support the overseas countries and territories (OCTs). United Kingdom (UK)
The White Paper was presented to Parliament in 1999 shortly after the access of the "New Labour" Government. It was intended to epitomise a new approach by Britain to its colonies. Perhaps most notably it offered British Dependent Territories Citizens the right to apply for British European Union Passports.
