CIGO London Office - International Relationships

European Union (EU) and Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs)

The Cayman Islands is part of the association of 21 Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) still engaged in colonial relationships with EU member states, known as the OCTA. As such both the country and its citizens are eligible to take part in various European Union (EU) programmes. CIGO works to facilitate this relationship.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)

CIGO also engages in bilateral communication with the FCO to keep the United Kingdom (UK) Government informed about relevant developments in the Cayman Islands, and to make the Cayman Islands Government aware of the potential implications of UK policies.

United Kingdom Overseas Territories (UKOTs)

The UK Overseas Territories have formed an association known as UKOTA. The London Office facilitates the Cayman Island's participation in meetings of this group and the development opportunities that are offered by the UK Government.

All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG)

Although it is a UKOT, the Cayman Islands have no voice in the UK Parliament. CIGO formed this group to help inform individual UK parliamentarians about developments in the Islands. Each year it brings down small groups to spend some time learning about the way that the Island functions, and to engage with local politicians and civil servants in a dialogue on governance and other issues.

Friends of Cayman

This is a group of persons that includes past Governors, businessmen and others with a special interest in the Cayman Islands, who meet regularly to keep abreast of developments there.
