CIGO London Office - Duties
- To promote the Cayman Islands’ interests and expand contacts in the United Kingdom and Europe by liaising with appropriate UK Ministries, UK Parliament, Commonwealth bodies, the UK Overseas Territories Association, the Overseas Countries and Territories Association of the EU, the European Commission as well as other international organisations.
- To disseminate information on the Cayman Islands to a wide range of enquirers: Government, private sector companies and the general public. Examples of the subjects on which we receive enquiries are shown in the FAQ list.
- To provide the Cayman Islands Government with information and policy advice on events and policies in the UK and Europe.
- To assist Caymanians and Caymanian students in the UK.
- Make advance arrangements for official visitors and private sector visitors from the Cayman Islands to UK and Europe – e.g. Cayman Islands politicians and senior civil servants; to receive such visitors and provide maximum support.
- To represent the Cayman Islands at official functions, ceremonial occasions, Commonwealth and Parliamentary gatherings, Foreign Office receptions etc, in order to promote the Cayman Islands as an international entity of importance.
- To execute the Government’s programme of recruitment in the UK (there may be as many as 50 staff recruited from UK for the Cayman Islands Civil Service each year). We handle the placing of advertisements, deal with requests for application forms and job descriptions, receive back and acknowledge completed applications, set up interviews for short-listed candidates, handle the arrangements for the new appointee to take up the post etc.
